Alberta International Case Competition has returned for a second year. Comparing to other case competitions, it is one of juvenescence. This year, BBA Thammasat has sent four representatives Chanakarn (BBA #23), Pimphat (BBA #24), Nopparuj (BBA #24), and Linh (BBA #24) accompanied Dr. Surat Teerakapibal as the advisor.
Although, the journey was lengthy and arduous but the sights at Jasper made up for it. Despite being jetlagged and having to take a long bus to Jasper, we were brought back by the commitee’s excitement and liveliness. The first night was slow, allowing participants to adjust to the cold yet scenic Jasper.
On our second day, the organizing commitee brought us to see the Jasper townsite. It was a sight to behold, with the quiet town blending with the vast expanse of nature. The town was quiet and peaceful, accompanied by the whistling winds of winter. For us, we had a hard time adjusting to the weather, but the scenery and uniqueness of Jasper made it worthwhile. We were brought to take team pictures at the picturesque Medicine Lake. Accompanying us was a professional photographer of the committee, bringing life to the pictures we took. One of the most interesting things that happen was that the lake was frozen enough to take pictures standing on it. We took time taking pictures of our own while making friends with other participants.

After the second day, everything went by fast. We were greeted with a 5-hour case in the morning. It was about tourism in Jasper which faced problem in bringing people to the town. We felt confident through our preparation and were able to secure first place in our division. Our gleefulness was shattered when we were greeted with a 30-hour case about Human Resources. It was a design firm who was looking for a plan to get employees to adopt new systems and programs. We fell short and ended up in the second place, and unfortunately, did not made it to the final round. The weather was cold and the competition was unforgiving, however, it was made better by our advisor, Dr. Surat Teerakapibal. Although it was his first time going to a case competition, he treated us with care and love, making the experience an unforgettable. Hence, our team would like to express our utmost gratitude to our advisor, Dr. Surat Teerakapibal.
Although the result was not as we expected, the team learnt various lessons through the 30-hour process of case cracking, information research, discussion as well as invaluable feedbacks received from an honorable panel of judges. The journey of case competition not only helps the team grew in terms of business acumen but it also fosters self-development as capable individuals. In addition, we would like to express our dearest gratitude for the AIBC committee, BBA program and all of our case team advisors, notably Ajarn Somboon Kulvisaechana, Ajarn Supawat Likittanawong, Dr. Worapong Janyangyuen, Dr. Nopporn Ruangwanit, and Asst.Prof. Dr. Orapan Yolrabil for your guidance and training. All in all, AIBC was an experience that will long be treasured in our memories.
