In feature of BBA’s 20th anniversary and their respective 20 Good Deeds of Sharing, over 30 students and staff members were honored to spend their Saturday volunteering at Wat BungLatthiwan in Ayutthaya.  Working with monks, alumni, and numerous members of the community, we worked together to build eight metal frameworks for construction within the Stupa.  These frameworks will be later used as a base for the creation of concrete walls.

Although it may seem as if we were merely tying metal wires at the intersection of pipe grids, there was so much more than just a metal framework involved. Despite our different backgrounds and paths that led us to the moment, we worked side by side, each working tediously towards the same common goal. Happily embracing the task with a great deal of laughter and effort, there developed a real sense of community. It’s impressive how small of a part we play for a small part of the Stupa. Yet all these small parts add up to become the massive Stupas we have all come to respect and admire – not unlike that of our communities. Sometimes, it really is the little things that matter the most.

This day was a clear demonstration of the kindness, dedication, and passion that are truly characteristic of the Thai culture – something we are all proud to be a part of.
