Written by Onmanee Floro, BBA#20

On March 18, students of Advanced Accounting I course (AC411) visited KPMG office for a session concerning ‘Mergers and Acquisition’. Our two guest speakers from the Deal Advisory department were Varayu Imanotai (P’Aor) and Bundit Praditsuktavorn (P’Ou) who are currently Associate Director and Manager of the department, respectively. P’Ou is also a business alumnus from BBA#12.

As we are studying about business combination in AC411, this session aims to provide further understanding about Mergers and Acquisition in business practice. The session started with introducing the Advisory department and its functions such as financial model review, IPO preparation, and Treasury management advisory. Then, we learn about the steps in M&A process. In each step, the guest speakers not only explained about the rationale behind the procedure but also gave real world examples from their long experience in this career. Most importantly, we learn about how knowledge gained from AC411 classes can contribute to the completion of M&A process. We were also  provided with an example of M&A agreement from which we learned about technical terms and structure used in  business contract. Lastly, we went through M&A case studies from recent years to demonstrate how process was put into action.

Finally, on behalf of the students, I would like to thank P’Ou and P’Aor for sharing valuable experience and also thank BBA Office and Ajarn Orapan for making this wonderful opportunity happen.
